What

Claude Code keeps a transcript, a saved record of your session. When writing to it, Claude Code could already remove entries and compact them. It can now also withdraw the most recent checkpoint, a saved marker of where the conversation had got to.

Why

This is internal record-keeping, and what triggers it is not known.
