What
A container is an isolated machine environment a session can run in. When a session resumes there and the copy of the conversation saved on the container's disk is missing at least a certain number of recent tool calls, Claude Code now tells the model so. A tool call is an action Claude took, such as editing a file or running a command.
The message warns that files may be missing or out of date and that installed packages may be gone, and asks the model to tell you if work was lost.
Why
It guards remote and container sessions against losing work silently after a resume, so you hear about it instead of Claude carrying on as if nothing happened.
