Claude Code v2.1.307 ·

Idle compaction can also act on keepalive caches, not only one-hour ones

Idle compaction now covers two cache types, one-hour and keepalive, each with its own setting, and its notice no longer says "after an hour idle"

What

Idle compaction now handles two kinds of prompt cache, where it used to check only one:

  • the one-hour cache
  • a keepalive cache, which is held open while you are away

Each kind has its own remotely controlled setting, and both are off unless switched on remotely. CLAUDE_CODE_IDLE_COMPACT_MIN_TOKENS still applies.

The notice now reads "Compacted using a summary written while you were away", without "after an hour idle".

Why

Idle compaction can now apply when the cache is held by a keepalive and not only when it lasts one hour, which is why the notice no longer mentions an hour.
