What
A tool call is a request from Claude to use one of its tools, such as reading a file. Before running a tool, Claude Code checks the input. A tool can now mark a rejection as not an error. In that case Claude receives a normal tool result carrying the message and a suggested remedy, instead of the rejection being logged and reported as a failed tool use.
Before, every rejected input was treated as a tool error.
Why
Some rejections stop counting as errors, so Claude is guided toward a fix rather than told it failed.
