What
Shell mode is when you type ! in Claude Code to run a shell command directly. The footer under the prompt now checks for a new shell-mode feature, but that check always answers no in this release. Nothing new appears in the footer.
Why
This is preparation for a footer feature in shell mode. It cannot turn on in this release, so nothing changes for you yet.
