A tool use is one action Claude Code takes, such as reading a file or running a command. A turn is one exchange: your message and Claude's reply. Each session now keeps a count of tool uses within the current turn and remembers which ones it has already counted. A new metric name, ccs_message_files_wait, was added to Claude Code's list of measurements.
The check that decides whether to replay a transcript also now tests whether it has any lines, instead of whether its size is zero.
