Unclear It is not stated what a checkpoint saves or when the server asks for one.
What
Some sessions keep a live connection to a server that streams events to Claude Code. Claude Code now recognises a checkpoint request arriving over that connection and passes it on to whatever handles checkpoints, if anything is set up to. If that handler fails, the failure is caught and logged instead of stopping the session.
Before, this kind of event was not recognised and only produced a warning about an unexpected event type.
Why
The server can now ask a remote session to make a checkpoint.
