What
MCP servers can ask you questions during a session. For servers that come from a built-in plugin, one that ships with Claude Code, only a person can now accept such a question.
An Elicitation hook, a script you set up to answer these questions, can no longer accept. Its answer is turned into cancel and the question goes to you.
An ElicitationResult hook can only change your accept to cancel, not the other way round.
In headless sessions, where there is no terminal, every question from such a server is answered with cancel.
The question window also hides your draft while it is open.
Why
This is a safety measure. Automation that relied on hooks to accept these questions will stop working for built-in plugin servers.
