What
When a background shell task finishes, Claude Code can report that it left a group of processes running. It now does so only when both are true:
- the process is confirmed to still be alive, by a quick check or, failing that, a slower lookup
- the task was not killed
Before, a single quick check decided it. Killed tasks no longer report leftover processes.
Why
This should cut false "process left running" reports for tasks that were killed or have already exited.
