What
A transcript is the saved record of a session's conversation. When Claude Code replays one, it can now begin building its index from a starting position saved earlier, instead of always working it out from scratch. Each saved position is used once and then removed.
Why
This likely saves Claude Code from scanning the whole transcript again during replay.
