What
When a session ends, Claude Code starts a safety timer that forces it to quit if shutting down takes too long. Previously that timer was only extended while a login token was being refreshed. It is now also extended by an extra amount at two points during shutdown, so slower shutdown work has time to finish.
Why
Work that happens as a session closes, such as saving its final state, is less likely to be lost because the program quit too soon. Quitting may occasionally take a little longer as a result.
