What

A hook is a command a plugin runs automatically. It can answer a permission request (Claude asking whether it may do something) with "ask", meaning the request should go to someone. The hook can now also say the decider is "person". When it does, the automatic check that can approve some actions cannot settle the request.

Why

Plugin authors can make sure certain actions always wait for a human answer.
