What

MCP servers are outside programs that give Claude Code extra tools and content. Claude Code can sync skills, which are reusable sets of instructions, from an MCP server. Each source is named by a URI, a kind of address.

When Claude Code refuses a directory URI, it now says which of these problems it found:

  • The address holds hidden characters.
  • The address holds a dollar sign.
  • The host part of the address cannot be read.
Why

A specific reason makes it easier to see what is wrong with the address and fix it.
