A remote tool host is a machine that offers its tools to a Claude Code session. Finding a host used to need its exact name. Claude Code now also tries a partial name:
If exactly one host matches, Claude Code uses it.
If no host or several hosts match, the host is treated as unknown.
Why
You can refer to a remote tool host by a shorter name, as long as the shorter name matches only one host.
