Unclear Which mode causes /resume to be hidden is not stated.
What
/resume reopens an earlier conversation. It used to be listed everywhere. In one particular mode, Claude Code now hides it in either of these cases:
- The session is view-only, so you can watch it but not act in it.
- The session has no session ID, the identifier Claude Code uses to find a conversation again.
Why
If you connect to a remote session only to watch it, you may no longer see /resume in the command list.

Confirmed since
Anthropic's documentation has since written up /resume, on What's new.
