What

An artifact is a document or page that Claude publishes for you. When publishing one copies files from another artifact, the server can now leave out individual files and give a reason. Before, every copied file had to come back complete or the whole publish failed.

Claude Code drops left-out files from the list it publishes and tells you which ones were left out. It refuses to publish, and leaves the artifact unchanged, when leaving files out would:

  • remove files
  • replace files
  • leave no other file

If the server does not accept the request to leave missing files out, Claude Code stops asking for a while.

Why

One copied file the server cannot provide, for example one your account cannot read, no longer has to fail the whole publish, and you are told what was skipped.
