When Claude Code starts, it sends your terminal a hidden question to find out what it supports. Terminals built on VTE versions older than 0.53 have a bug that prints questions they do not understand as visible text. Claude Code now reports its check as not settled on those terminals.
Why
This helps avoid stray characters appearing on screen when Claude Code starts in older VTE terminals.
