Unclear What each of these six switches controls is not stated.

What

Some Claude Code features are switched on or off from Anthropic's servers instead of by an update. Six of these switches are now among the ones Claude Code checks early in startup: tengu_steady_bittern, tengu_valiant_lantern, tengu_tender_mitten, tengu_zippy_harbor, tengu_fallow_lantern and tengu_mellow_hollerith.

Five of them are off unless switched on remotely: tengu_mellow_hollerith, tengu_valiant_lantern, tengu_zippy_harbor, tengu_tender_mitten and tengu_fallow_lantern. tengu_mellow_hollerith decides an answer tied to your login and host. tengu_steady_bittern feeds a state that can be answered, unanswered or not yet asked.

For tengu_mellow_hollerith, the server returned off for this site's account and for an anonymous check, in a reading not taken under this release.

Why

These features ship hidden and stay off unless they are switched on from the server.

tengu_mellow_hollerith Not enough to say

Nothing here resolved what this flag was doing on this version, so nothing here should be read as on or off.

This account: no value returned · anonymous baseline: off · compiled default in v2.1.300: not a boolean we can read

These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.

What has happened since
Flag reading moved The flag server now returns nothing at all, having stopped carrying it for tengu_mellow_hollerith, read as this account. A reading is one sample. Claude Code evaluates its flags remotely, so no client sees the targeting rule behind a value and this says nothing about your account.
