Unclear The actual limits, and which setups get the second limit, are not settled.
What
Claude Code limits how many bytes of images and other media it sends to the model. The limit can come from Anthropic's servers, and how it is worked out has changed:
The limit is now read from a new remote setting, falling back to the previous one.
The value must be 0 or at least twice a fixed amount.
Some setups have the limit raised to a minimum.
A second limit is 0 unless a platform check passes, and otherwise comes from another remote setting or a default.
Why
This changes how large an image or other media file can be when it is sent.
