Applications that embed Claude Code can send a side_question request to ask a quick question during a session. How Claude Code handles these requests changed:
If the same request arrives twice, the second one now joins the run already in progress instead of starting another.
If a run gives no answer by a deadline, Claude Code gives it up and stops it.
Once a run finishes, its response is released from memory.
Why
Repeated requests, for example when an application retries, no longer start duplicate runs, and a stuck side question no longer hangs forever.
