What
Claude Code now analyses shell commands for patterns that act differently depending on whether they run in zsh or bash (two common command-line shells). It produces four yes/no flags:
zsh_nomatch_error
zsh_equals_error
bash_pipestatus_use
bash_word_split_use
A new remotely controlled switch also appears alongside this check.
Why
This measures how often commands run into shell compatibility problems. It does not change how commands run.
