What
A tool call is a single action Claude takes, such as running a command. These changes concern tool calls handled by a remote host machine.
- Silent calls: Claude Code now keeps track of when a call went quiet. When it decides the host is not responding, that decision can use its own waiting interval, and Claude Code records it if the call is answered late.
- Approvals after a restart: when an approval answer was already waiting before a restart, Claude Code can now apply that inherited answer. It runs any
PermissionRequesthooks first. A hook is a command of your own that Claude Code runs at a set moment, andPermissionRequesthooks run when a tool call needs a permission decision. If those hooks fail, Claude Code logs it.
Why
This affects how stalled remote tool calls and pending approvals are recovered.
