What

When Claude Code asks for permission to do something, the answer can include changes to your permission rules. Permission rules decide which actions Claude may take without asking. Claude Code now handles an answer that replaces rules like this:

  • Deny or ask rules are added for the current session only
  • Allow rules are still dropped

Before, every answer that replaced rules was dropped, the same as one that removed rules.

Why

A permission answer, including one sent from somewhere else, can now make the current session stricter. It still cannot loosen it this way.
