What
When Claude tries to read a file that is too big, Claude Code returns an error. The errors for these cases can now have extra text added to the end:
- a file over the maximum size
- a file that "exceeds maximum allowed tokens" (tokens are the chunks of text the model counts)
- a requested line range over the size limit
By default nothing is added, so the messages read as before.

This makes room for more specific advice in these errors.
