Unclear What makes Claude Code switch to the windowed display is not known.

What

Claude Code shows replies as formatted text (markdown). It can now display formatted text in a windowed mode, likely showing a slice of long content rather than all of it. In this mode:

  • the cap on how many links are handled is skipped
  • the setting is passed through to lists, tables, quotes and text still streaming in
  • the newest streamed text skips a saved copy of earlier highlighting
