What
Claude Code saves some files by writing a complete new copy and then swapping it in, so a file is never left half written. That process can now change a file from one owner to another, and it does this in a safer order relative to changing the file's permissions. If changing the owner fails, Claude Code reports it as a distinct error. When no change of owner is asked for, the file keeps only its owner's permissions.
Before, Claude Code changed the owner once, always before the permissions.
Why
This shortens the moment when a file could have the wrong owner or the wrong permissions.
