What

When a cloud session uses tools served from another computer, Claude Code already reconnected after a gap in the connection. It now also understands explicit sleep and wake notices from that computer:

  • A notice says the host is about to sleep (will_sleep) or has woken (did_wake). Any other value is rejected.
  • While the host is asleep, checks on whether the remote tools are available go unanswered, and other requests are held until the host reports it has woken.
  • After waking, the connection announces itself as returning rather than as a plain reconnect.
  • A tool call caught by the sleep can now be reported as "paused, its state unknown, when that machine went to sleep".
Why

Remote and desktop-hosted sessions recover more cleanly after the machine running the tools goes to sleep, instead of treating it as an ordinary dropped connection.
