What

Fast mode is switched with /fast or its picker. Changing it now goes through an extra step instead of applying straight away. That step can run PreModelSwitch hooks, which are your own commands that Claude Code runs before the model changes, and shows "Running PreModelSwitch hooks…" while they run. It can also show a new "Waiting for the workspace…" state.

Why

This changes how /fast takes effect, mainly in remote sessions, which run somewhere other than your own machine. A switch may now pause briefly before it applies.
