Unclear What makes a session diskless is not stated.
Detailed beta tracing records in detail what Claude Code does and sends it to a tracing endpoint. It used to turn on whenever ENABLE_BETA_TRACING_DETAILED and BETA_TRACING_ENDPOINT were set. It now also requires that the session is not diskless, meaning a session that avoids writing files to your computer.
A remote switch is also involved. It is off unless switched on remotely, and when last read the flag server returned it off for this site's account.
If you rely on detailed tracing, it stops without any message in diskless sessions, even with both environment variables set.
tengu_trace_lantern Off in both readingsThe flag server returned off for the account this site reads and for the anonymous baseline. A reading of off cannot rule out a rollout these two readings sit outside of.
