What
Background sessions are Claude Code conversations that keep running after you leave them. When you exit while attached to one, and the background helper process that keeps them alive is not running, Claude Code now prints this notice:
"Background sessions still running will stop in about a minute. Run 'claude agents' to keep them."
The notice appears only in an interactive terminal, and not on Windows.
Why
You now get a warning before background work stops, with the command claude agents to keep it going.
