What
Telemetry is the usage information Claude Code sends back about itself. Sampling means sending only a share of those reports. This release changes how that share is decided.
- A new filter reads the
tengu_agile_gladesetting from the server. Fortengu_feature_okreports that carry afeature_name, it looks up a rate for that feature. A rate of 0 drops the report. Any other rate is multiplied into the report'ssample_rate. If the server sends no value, the report passes through unchanged. - The sampling helper no longer looks up a rate by name in its own settings. Code that calls it now works out the rate first and passes the number in. The helper still returns null for invalid values or rates of 1 or more, returns 0 for rates of 0 or less, and otherwise returns either the rate or 0 at random.
Why
In practice, how often these reports are sent for each feature can now be changed from the server without a new Claude Code release. Nothing changes in how you use Claude Code.
