What

An @-mention is when you type @ to point Claude at an agent or an MCP resource, which is something provided by an outside service. Claude Code used to send a usage report for every such mention, whether it worked or failed. It now reports only the first several mentions in a message one by one. Any beyond that are rolled into a single report with a count.

Why

The amount of usage reporting from one message now has a ceiling, however many @-mentions it contains.
