What
When Claude Code connects to an MCP server, an outside program that gives it extra tools, it now makes the server's tools and commands available as soon as they are ready. The server's resources, data the server offers for reading, are added afterwards. Previously all of these were made available together, only once everything had loaded.
If something fails after the tools and commands are already available, the server is no longer switched to a failed state.
Why
A server's tools can appear sooner, and a late problem loading resources does not take them away.
