Unclear It is not clear which ways of clearing the prompt save the text to history.

What

Claude Code could already hold on to text you cleared from the prompt, so the text could be put back. It can now also save that text to your prompt history, the list of earlier prompts you step through with the up arrow. It records when the text was cleared. If the held text is never restored, it is added to history with that time, as long as the input mode still matches and no launch warning is showing.

History keeps a limited list of these cleared drafts. It skips sensitive commands and does not store the same draft twice.

Why

Text you clear by accident may now be recoverable with the up arrow.
