What
The Artifact tool, which Claude uses to work with artifacts (pages you have published), gains version history:
- Listing versions: a new action shows the versions of an artifact, labelled "list versions of" in the interface. Only the artifact's owner can list them.
- Reading a version: the
readaction accepts aversionand shows " version N" or " (an earlier version)". - Ownership check: reading a named version is refused unless the artifact is known to be your own.
- Clearer failures: opening an artifact now reports a specific reason when it fails.
The new version option only appears when a setting that turns versions on is active.
Separately, a PublishPlugin tool is described as publishing a plugin folder on your machine to your organization's library on claude.ai, after you confirm.
Why
Claude can look back at earlier versions of an artifact instead of only the current one, for example to compare changes or recover earlier content.
