What

A subagent is a helper copy of Claude given part of a task, and subagents can start subagents of their own. Claude Code limits how deep that nesting can go. To find the limit, it now looks first at data cached for your account. If no limit is found there, it uses the remote setting from Anthropic's servers. Before, only that remote setting was used, and only when it was a whole number of at least 1.
