What

A permission mode controls how freely Claude acts without asking you. A proactivity level controls how much Claude does on its own initiative. This release makes Claude Code respect the proactivity level in two more places.

  • Resuming a session: before, the stored permission mode was restored as it was. Now, if a session was stored in auto mode, its proactivity is ask, and the levels are off in the current process, Claude Code resumes it in a different mode. It warns: "Resumed in ... mode instead of auto: this session is set to ask before each file edit, and auto mode alone would not. Press shift+tab to switch modes."
  • Resuming into plan mode: an interactive resume can now start in plan mode (planModeOnInteractiveResume).
  • Starting teammates: a teammate is a separate Claude process that works alongside the main one, the leader, in an agent team. When the leader has a proactivity level set, the command that starts a teammate now includes --proactivity with that level. Before, nothing was passed in that spot. The command already passed --permission-mode, --agent, --agents and --name.

Why

A resumed session no longer runs with more freedom than you chose when it was set to ask before each file edit. Teammates now follow the leader's proactivity level instead of starting at their default.
