Unclear Which account setting controls serving, and what it defaults to, is not known.

What

When a cloud client is connected, Claude Code can serve tools to it. Several cases are now handled and reported:

  • If the account's own settings have not loaded, serving is reported as switched off.
  • If the check of whether to keep serving fails, Claude Code stops background shell commands and describes its tools again, and reports the failure.
  • If that check later works again, the recovery is reported.
  • If the account's setting turns off partway through a session, that is reported too.

Before, a failure while checking whether to serve was not handled.

Why

Tool serving now fails closed, meaning it stops rather than carrying on, and it reports when its check breaks.
