What
When a conversation gets long, Claude Code compacts it into a summary. Sometimes it starts writing that summary early, before it is needed. If you change the model while that early summary is still being written, Claude Code now stops it.
Claude Code also now records what kind of compaction ran, and, when an early summary is used, whether it was made with the same model and how much the conversation grew in the meantime.
Why
This stops Claude Code from using a summary that was prepared for a different model than the one you switched to.
