What

Claude Code can remind the model how many tokens it has used. A token is a small chunk of text that the model reads or writes. The token count used in that reminder can now come from a new value, set by the server or by the CLAUDE_CODE_RIPPLING_TULIP environment variable. The count can be read from a subagent's own conversation record. A subagent is a helper Claude starts to work on part of a task.

This is skipped when the reminder is turned off with CLAUDE_CODE_TOTAL_TOKENS_REMINDER or in settings, so those still win.

Why

A subagent can be given its own token countdown instead of one shared figure.
