Unclear What the feature check falls back to when nothing is sent was not settled.

What

Claude Code can now add a short reminder to the context, the material the model reads along with your messages, saying how long it has been working, in the form "Elapsed time so far: 3m 05s". The clock restarts every time you send a prompt.

The reminder runs only when a feature check allows it. If that check fails, Claude Code treats the reminder as switched off.

Why

The model gets a sense of real elapsed time, which it otherwise has no way to know.
