What

A plugin marketplace is a source you add to Claude Code to find and install plugins. When you add one from GitHub, Claude Code downloads it into a folder. Adding a marketplace now fails with an error if its name is the same as the folder name of a GitHub marketplace you already have, or the same as that folder's backup copy (the name ending in .bak). The error suggests asking the marketplace's author.

Why

A marketplace with a clashing name could stop another marketplace from downloading. This check refuses it up front instead.
