Unclear Which additional variables are removed is not known.

What

Environment variables are settings passed to programs when they start, and several of them change how git behaves. Before running git, Claude Code used to remove only GIT_CONFIG and GIT_ATTR_SOURCE. It now also removes a further fixed set of git variables and sets those to its own fixed values.

Why

This stops more git settings in your environment from changing what git does when Claude Code runs it.
