What
When a certain internal condition is met, Claude Code now sets DISABLE_GROWTHBOOK to 1 in the environment of programs it launches. The environment is the set of named values a program receives when it starts. When the condition is not met, nothing extra is passed.
Why
GrowthBook is the service Claude Code uses for feature flags, which are switches that turn features on or off. If you rely on DISABLE_GROWTHBOOK, the programs Claude Code starts can now inherit that setting, so feature flags can stay off in them too.
