What

When Claude edits or writes a file on your own machine, Claude Code now records that file's path as a reason to load memory files in nested folders. Memory files are instruction files such as CLAUDE.md that Claude reads automatically.

Why

This may change which CLAUDE.md files in subfolders get loaded after Claude edits a file there.
