What

TaskStop is the tool Claude uses to stop a background command, a shell command left running while Claude does other work. It now supports remote execution. Under a certain condition it takes a different input and can stop background commands on a remote host, as long as this session started them. For one it cannot stop, it explains that the command has already finished or been stopped, or was never this session's.

Before, TaskStop only looked for the command among this computer's own tasks. TaskGet, which looks up a task, now also falls back to a second lookup when the first finds nothing.

Why

This is part of managing shell commands that run on a remote or cloud host.
