What
Poll events are messages delivered to Claude from outside the conversation, such as messages from other sessions. How they are delivered changed:
- Groups: several events can now be delivered together as one group. A group holds from one up to a capped number of events, none may be marked
wake: false, and it is rejected if it is too large after it is stamped. Before, only single events could be sent. - Declared fields: events can carry a
declaredset of fields, which is checked and sent as JSON. Unknown kinds are filtered out. Thepoll_eventsmessage gainsdeclaredand auserRoleGuardsetting, which builds the message text a different way. - Queue limits: the check on how many events are waiting now counts the arriving events.
- Outcome: delivering a poll event now reports a reason instead of a plain yes or no.
- New notices: Claude can now be told "One or more messages from other sessions arrived; they follow as the result of a Poll call. This is not a message from the person." or "One or more messages from other sessions could not be shown here and cannot be retrieved." Whether the flag
tengu_velvety_ripple(fallback false) is on is now recorded alongside these notices.
In readings taken before this release, the flag service returned tengu_velvety_ripple off for this site's account and for the anonymous baseline. No reading has been taken under this release yet.
Why
Messages from other sessions are now labelled as not coming from you, and a group of events either arrives whole or not at all.

The writer flagged doubt
It is not clear what sends grouped events, or what decides whether the user-role protection applies.
