What
The plugin directory is now handled as a marketplace in its own right. A marketplace is a catalogue Claude Code installs plugins from. The changes:
/reload-pluginscan fetch the directory's catalogue when it is missing.- Refreshing all marketplaces, or just this one, now handles it.
- Auto-update cannot be turned off for it.
- Its status shows as blocked when a policy blocks it.
- Installing or enabling one of its plugins is checked against the commit the directory lists. A commit is one exact saved version of the plugin's code.
- Plugins record which directory repository they came from.
- Marketplace refresh errors carry reason codes such as
manifest_missingandmanifest_invalid.
Why
Plugins from the directory are tied to one reviewed version, so a plugin is not installed or enabled if its code does not match what was listed.
