What

Claude Code's daemon is a background process that keeps running on your machine and serves work for remote sessions. It has a new subcommand:

  • claude daemon remote-control stop-shell <id> stops a background shell command that the daemon is running for a cloud session. claude daemon status lists the ids you can pass to it.
  • claude daemon stop now also reports how many of these background commands were running when it stopped.

Both are behind a check that decides whether they are available.

Why

A shell command started for a cloud session can keep running in the background on your machine. This gives you a direct way to find and stop one that was left behind.
