When you switch models in the model picker, Claude Code runs a check before the switch goes through. The picker no longer passes that check information about where the current turn came from or which MCP sources are involved. MCP is the system that connects Claude Code to outside tools. The confirmation step no longer carries a request for a reason, or a reason for an upload. The "Model switch cancelled" message is still there.
Why
In practice, switching models from the picker may no longer ask you for a reason in cases where it did before.
